Spent the day yesterday out at BMW NA (and the surrounding roads) shooting an M4, M6, and i8.
I didn't really get to drive the i8 but I did get to poke around it and push all the buttons. It's pretty amazing. The M6 was a predictably weighty yet extremely speedy experience. And the M4 was a joy. Keep an eye out on the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! page over the next few weeks!

Did you like how the M4 sounded?

When you said "shooting an M4", this is what came to mind first:

I did. Quite a bit. It didn't sound like anything I've ever driven. It's boomy in the right places and raspy in others.
I would be interested to see what the aftermarket comes up with as well though.

I dont know why, but the M4 does nothing for me. I know it isnt a bad car, but I dot feel it is special enough. I know it is an amazng achievement, but to me, the engine and overall aura doesent excite me. Try to convince me im wrong!

I felt the same way, then I drove it. Go drive one, my words are worthless.

As well as a different kind of M4.

The coupe gets all the attention. Why? Shoot the M3 instead! =)

I agree. Those three were what I was given...I wasn't about to complain. I'll get in an M3 soon.

I have seen this exact color at a dealership, its beautiful, makes me want to consider it over white.

This is just what I needed. I do like the M3 a lot more, and feel it is quite superior.

I like the M3 more too, and I haven't even driven the new one yet. I just like the sedan proportions a lot more than the coupe. That said, the M4 was amazing and I can't thinking about how the fuck I'm gonna get one, long term.

I totally agree. The M3 looks taught and ready to go. The M4 to me looks too fat and not nearly as agile or eager to dance. Well, you just gave the car the highest praise that any car can have: desperately wanting it!

Can't wait!!

Ya but I want an M3 more :)

I honestly would be more tempted by a 235i (It isnt a real M car to me). But id have to try out both!

I'll be posting a video of my slow lap at Spa. I recorded it using an external mic on the go pro so you should get a good sense of the exhaust note. Which, I am indeed a fan of.

Or M2...which I have high hopes will be a better (if at all possible) 1M, which I regard as the best contemporary M car.

I recorded some footage with my fuzzy mic'd GoPro on the back of the M4 it sounds amaaaaazing!
